GLASTONBURY GAL BUYS OLD WETHERSFIELD COUNTRY STORE

A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity presented itself to Margie Bausmith and she decided to go for it. Margie is the new owner of the Old Wethersfield Country Store...a mainstay of this unique local community and she could not be more excited! Born and raised in Glastonbury Margie has always had an affection for Main Street Old Wethersfield (she spent Sundays attending First Church) and knew the time was right for her to take this leap. After some interior upgrades, Margie reopened the store to a bit of fanfare. Lots of loyal customers returned to support her new venture. It's a first for her as she hasn't ever worked in retail until now. But, she has big plans to enhance and expand the offerings so stop by to find out what she has in store. We think her creative side will really shine through here...she's extremely involved with music and arts...plays the piano EVERY day (LOVEEE). The art behind the check out counter was made by her. It's her grandmother's old lace pieces (We're not crying!). Let's give her a big WELCOME!

NEW ICE CREAM SHOP NOW OPEN IN OLD SCOOPS & SPRINKLES

Salem Valley Farms out of Salem (original location is at the end of Route 11) recently opened their 2nd location in the old Scoops & Sprinkles space called Salem Valley Farms Scoop Shop. Glastonbury residents Matt & Tara Viens purchased Salem Valley in 2018 and are excited to expand to this new location. They renovated the interior space prior to opening and offer all the beloved flavors from their Salem location. We popped in to check it out. See below for a peek at the new interior.

NEW INDIAN RESTAURANT TO OPEN SOON

As we were traveling along the Silas Deane Highway recently, we saw a sign that said Marina Indian Restaurant COMING SOON. Well, this is excellent news for you Rocky Hill! Their South Glastonbury location is TAKE-OUT ONLY and gets rave reviews for their authentic and delicious Indian food. They are hoping to open relatively soon. The space they are taking over was a different Indian restaurant, so they are making some minor renovations. Stay tuned for a date.
